Kalonji or Kalojeere is an interesting spice which adds a beautiful aroma to the dishes. It is a flavorful spice that has its own sweet and nutty flavor. Kalonji is a widely used medicinal plant that has a history of a thousand years and finds its use in several forms like Kalonji oil, raw seeds, and so on.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 to 5 large garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup kalonji seeds
  • 1/4 cup roasted sesame seeds
  • 3/4 cup jeera
  • 3/4 cup ajwain
  • 1/4 cup grated coconut
  • 2 tsp red chili powder more or less as per choice avoid if intolerant or sensitive to spice

Instructions
 

  • Slightly roast the sesame seeds, jeera, ajwain and grated coconut.
  • Set them aside.
  • Now in a dry blender, blend the above, add in the kalonji seeds, garlic, red chili powder and blend for 15 more seconds .
  • Blend this all to a coarse mixture.
  • You can sprinkle the chutney over the salads too.

Notes

  • Kalonji seeds are magical seeds rich in fiber, amino acid, iron, sodium, calcium and potassium.
  • Kalonji seeds have anti-inflammatory properties that can treat various chronic inflammations.
  • Rich in antioxidants that neutralise the free radicals causing cancer.
