Turn the fruit of the angels - raw papaya into a sweet, sour, and spicy stir fry packed with the power of mustard seeds which are not only loaded with nutrition but tickle the taste buds too. Relish this with roti, rice, or even as a salad.
Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds and curry leaves.
When the mustard seeds begin to splutter, add a pinch of asafoetida and red chili.
Stir in the grated papaya, and add the turmeric powder and salt.
Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
Once done, add the lemon juice and garnish with coriander and serve hot.
Variations
One can use carrots and beetroot too, as per the availability.
Notes
Raw papaya contains papain which is considered effective in treating skin infections and lesions and also helps prevent constipation.
Loaded with fiber, it aids digestion and boosts gut health too.
Mustard seeds contain glucosinolates which are further broken down into isothiocyanates. These are linked with reducing the spread by inhibiting the growth of cancer cells and inducing cell apoptosis (cell death).
Power tip
You can alternate mustard seeds with mustard sauce.
