- 2 cups water
- 1 tsp fennel seeds, saunf
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp bishop's weed, ajwain
- 2-3 black peppercorns
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- a 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 4-5 tulsi or holy basil leaves
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- ½ tbsp raw and unpasteurized honey, optional
Add water, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, ajwain, black peppercorns, turmeric powder, grated ginger, and tulsi leaves.
Bring it to a boil and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
Strain the mixture into a cup.
Add lemon juice and honey for taste, if desired. Drink it warm.
Power tips and variations
One can use thyme/licorice root in place of tulsi leaves.
You can sweeten the kadhai with jaggery too.
