Vitamin D and C: My Secret to Master Anything

To master anything in life, it takes more than just raw talent—you require to have the golden qualities of what I call, Vitamin D and C: Discipline and Consistency. These two attributes can transform your life, making you practically invincible in achieving your goals.

Whether it’s personal growth, career success, or improving your health, discipline, and consistency are the keys that unlock the door to long-lasting success. The journey begins with building small, manageable habits that you can sustain over time.

While everyone knows they must be disciplined and consistent in life, do you know why this is said with so much conviction?

Discipline and consistency are the primary keys to creating new neural pathways in your brain.

Consider it for a second. Whatever you think about yourself, that you eventually will be. If you think of yourself as strong, strong you will be. If you think of yourself as weak, weak you will be. If you say you’re healthy, healthy you will be! Your mind has the power to shape your reality, embrace it, and make it work for you!

Now, when you use the power of these two qualities, Vitamin D and C, to create new and positive habits, your brain accepts it as the new norm. In turn, you feel stronger, sharper, and more confident. You begin your journey towards mastery.

In a few days, you can set yourself up for success in ways that can save you years of your life. Remember, taking shortcuts means short-term results.

So how do you wire your brain to mastering anything, be it a talent, mindset, subject, or skill?

Let’s explore how inculcating discipline and consistency into your lifestyle can set you on the path to achieving anything you set your mind to.

The Lifelong Exercise of Discipline and Consistency

“Self-discipline and consistency- master this. Everything else is secondary or sometimes not even needed. Massive content consumption, learning more but not practicing, talking but not doing, preaching but not practicing. Keep it real and give yourself the gift of self-discipline and consistency.”

Living in times like these, where everything has a solution at the click of a button, we have become used to being impatient. Where our ancestors had to build and wait for things to happen, life is simpler for us in many ways. However, things have also become complex due to getting everything we want quickly.

The world today has shaped us to rely on quick results. Our attention span has also shortened due to the consumption of such large amounts of media every day. You may find it disappointing when you can’t master a habit overnight. People pick up habits and lose interest when they realize that it’s going to take more than just interest and daydreaming!

I always stress the importance of having an attitude of learning. When you’re in the mode of being a student, mastery becomes easier.

Do you want to pass your degrees with flying colors? Lose weight and look a certain way? Do you wish to put diabetes into remission and reclaim a healthy lifestyle?

Discipline and consistency are lifelong exercises, not quick fixes. They require ongoing effort and dedication. Caring for the things you want to improve—whether it’s your health, career, or personal growth—means committing to regular practice and showing up every day.

Start small to build these qualities effectively. Focus on manageable habits that you can sustain over time. Small steps, taken consistently, lead to significant progress.

Your everyday intentional actions compound over time, creating lasting change to help you master anything you set your mind to.

Small Habits Can Help Create a Big Impact

By starting small, you make it easier for your brain to adapt and establish these new pathways without feeling overwhelmed.

This is also a great way to build trust in your abilities and confidence.

In an earlier article, we spoke about a two-minute exercise that can help you achieve anything. Today, I’ll show you how you can back that up with a simple practice that will guarantee mastery in anything you want.

If you’re struggling to bring more discipline and consistency in  your life, here are a few small habits you can start with:

  • Morning Gratitude: When we wake up, we perform many tasks like brushing, bathing, and getting dressed. Try building this habit before you get out of bed in the morning. Start each day by offering thanks to three people or three things in your life. What are you grateful for? Doing this for seven days can begin to shift your mindset towards positivity. Research shows that practicing gratitude can improve emotional well-being and overall life satisfaction.

  • Short Exercise Routines: Think you don’t have time to exercise? Start with just five minutes a day. Do a few squats, lunges, or stretches. Studies suggest that even short bursts of physical activity can improve mood and boost energy levels. Over time, you can gradually increase the duration as the habit becomes more ingrained, with a disciplined attitude. Here’s where you need to implement vitamin D and push through the intrusive thoughts, lazy habits, and inertia.

  • Mindful Tea/Coffee Brewing: Do you love to have a morning cup of tea or coffee? Turn your morning beverage into a mindful ritual. Learn the art of brewing your coffee or tea. Find a cozy spot, and take a few minutes to truly savor it. Mindfulness practices like this can reduce stress and improve mental clarity. Taking a moment to enjoy your drink can set a positive tone for your day.

Spending just five minutes for five to seven days can help you build a new habit with intention. Soon, it will become such a part of your life that you will automatically anticipate it.

In the same way, dedicate five minutes towards your goals and gradually increase the time you spend on it. It could be taking a new approach to nutrition and fitness, learning a new language, meditating, life skills, or the intricacies of a new business.

“No time? Stop watching TV. Still no time? Get off social media. You have a choice or an excuse, but don’t say you don’t have time.”

Wherever your intention and attention go, the brain amplifies. But why? Here’s what science has to show you.

The Science Behind Habit Formation

Ever wonder why some habits stick while others don’t? It all comes down to how our brain creates neural pathways. When we repeatedly perform an action, our brain starts to develop these pathways, making the behavior more automatic over time. That’s why when you repeat tasks, it’s easier to master anything.

This is known as neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. The power of Vitamin D (discipline) and C (consistency) helps to establish evolved pathways to an improved version of yourself.

Discipline plays a crucial role here. By consistently practicing a new habit, you reinforce these pathways, making the habit stronger. Research shows that training your brain for 5-7 days can help establish a new habit, and continuing for about 21 days can solidify it.

Take the example of carving a path through a forest. The more you walk through it, the clearer and easier it becomes.

Overcoming Setbacks

“What if I forget to practice for two days?” “What if I get lazy and skip a day?”

We all slip up sometimes—it’s part of the process. What’s important is how we handle those setbacks. If you miss a day or forget your habit, don’t beat yourself up. The key wo master anything starts with accepting our nature to fall sometimes. Here’s where discipline (vitamin D) helps you; it is the force that can give you a push to start over.

Acknowledge it, and then get back on track. Resilience is key. Each time you get back up, you strengthen your resolve and commitment.

Maintaining a positive attitude is crucial. Remind yourself that progress isn’t about perfection; it’s about persistence. Every step you take, even after a setback, is a step toward your goal.

So, stay positive, keep going, and celebrate your small victories along the way. Your journey to mastering anything is built on these moments of resilience and perseverance.

Instilling Positive Thought Processes

Creating a positive mindset isn’t just for adults; it works wonders for kids too. Think about it: when you make a habit of looking for things to be grateful for, you actually rewire your brain to focus on the positive.

This isn’t just feel-good advice—it’s backed by science.

Start each day by noting a few things you’re thankful for. It could be as simple as appreciating a sunny day or a kind gesture from a friend. Regularly practicing gratitude can transform your outlook and make positivity your default setting.

Encourage your kids to join in; it’s a great way to instill happiness and resilience in them too.

Final Word

Do you wish to be invincible and master anything? Then forget scrolling through endless content and center yourself with vitamin D and C. So, here’s the game plan: start small, build those habits, stay consistent, and embrace discipline. These steps are your secret weapons for achieving anything you want in life. Begin today. Remember, patience and persistence are your best friends on this journey. Stick with it, and you’ll see success follow.
