I Ate a Hearty Meal with Zero Bloating: Here’s a Simple Hack to Boost Your Gut Health

During my recent book launch in Jaipur for ‘Small Wins Every Day — a national bestseller,’ I had the privilege of staying at the Taj Rambagh Palace and indulging in a traditional Rajasthani thali for lunch – packed with pure ghee, animal and vegetarian protein, creating a delicious feast.

Surprisingly, despite consuming a significant amount of calories, proteins, and desserts, I didn’t feel the urge to eat for four hours or even eight hours.

My body was sending me a signal, “Hey! Stop eating.”

This is when I decided to experiment with the feasting and fasting model and test my gut health. The result — No acidity, no bloating!

How? I had allowed my body’s intelligence to work its magic without relying on prebiotics or probiotics.

Today, let’s talk about the Gut!

If we rewind the clock by a decade or two, prebiotics and probiotics were unfamiliar terms, and the idea of gut programs and cleanses was virtually unheard of.

Fast forward to today, and the gut has taken center stage in discussions of health and well-being.

Here’s the truth: No doctor or scientist can tell you the exact probiotic that your gut needs.

Nowadays, we’re constantly eating. We don’t allow the intelligence of our body to work!

We seem to have forgotten that there’s an intelligence within our gut that is designed to safeguard it. You can even rebuild your gut health.

It’s time we rediscover our gut wisdom!

When it comes to the health of your gut, it’s essential to understand the incredible ecosystem residing within you. Trillions of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi, call your gut home. These little organisms play a vital role in your overall health.

Your gut is related to everything — yes, everything – from your head to your toes.

Sounds too good to be true? Well, it’s not. The gut is a common denominator in many health issues, and it’s high time we recognize its significance.

You may be surprised to learn that your hair and cognitive health are linked to your gut. Are you dealing with premature graying, hair loss, or thinning hair? Autoimmune conditions like a psoriatic scalp or alopecia?

Well, your gut health plays a vital role in all of these issues.

Just as we have a microbiome in our gut, we also have one in our mouth. Our gut and mouth have interconnected microbiomes that balance good and bad bacteria. This connection affects not only dental health, mouth ulcers, and bad breath but also influences the thyroid gland, heart, liver, lungs, hormonal health, and skin health.

If you’re struggling to lose that stubborn belly fat despite diet and exercise, it’s likely due to gut-related issues. Your gut health has a direct influence on hormone regulation, making it a key factor in weight management.

Now, when it comes to addressing various health concerns, medications often become a part of the equation. But what might come as a surprise is that these very medications can disrupt the delicate balance within your gut.

If you are on a treatment protocol and need an antibiotic, take an antibiotic but take it the right way!

  • Make sure you have your prebiotics, probiotics, B complex, and Vitamin C going into your system through your foods or supplementation
  • And aim at rebuilding your gut bacteria that’s been wiped out by the medication

There’s nothing wrong with medication except the misuse of medication, self-medication, finding quick fixes, and not making changes in our lifestyle at a root cause level.

So how do we rebuild our gut health?

Move from Awareness to ActionIt’s not about adding more; sometimes, it’s about removing or reducing and allowing your body’s intelligence to work.

One effective and simple way is Fasting!

Fasting doesn’t mean you have to starve or deprive yourself. It’s about learning to eat when your body needs it. If you’re used to eating every few hours, your body may have adapted to this pattern.

However, it’s possible to retrain your body to fast between meals for more extended periods.

For example, you can aim for a four-hour gap between your meals. Over time, your body’s rhythm will adjust, and you’ll find that you naturally get hungry after four to five hours.

There are two fasting methods to choose from: dry fasting and intermittent fasting. When deciding between the two, it’s important to select the one that suits you best. I personally prefer dry fasting because I find it easier than intermittent fasting.

Remember that your body works on rhythms, and your gut is no exception!

By following your body’s signals and rhythms, you allow your microbiome to flourish and function optimally. Breaking these rhythms can have consequences for your gut health. So, respect your body’s signals!

  • Eat only when hungry: The key is to listen to your body and eat when you’re genuinely hungry. This might mean having lunch at 1 o’clock, 1:30, or 2, depending on when your hunger strikes.
  • There’s no one-size-fits-all solution: Your body is unique, and so is your eating rhythm. Don’t let society or external pressures dictate when you should eat. If you experience acidity or digestive issues, address those problems first. Try this 3-ingredient concoction for better digestion!
  • The magic of overnight fasting: The period between your last meal of the day and your first meal the next day allows your digestive system to rest and repair itself. The duration of this fast is up to you – be it 12, 14, 16, or even 18 hours – it depends on what works for you.

The world often tries to fit us into boxes, be it in medicine, nutrition, personal training, or relationships. We can learn, we can unlearn but then we have to use common sense and wisdom to make the right decision for what is right for us!

Here’s How To Fast The Right Way and harness your body’s intelligence.

The Bottom Line

Eat when you’re physically hungry, not emotionally hungry, when your body tells you, ‘Hey it’s time to eat, I’ve finished the process of cleaning everything, and I’m ready for food!

Your body knows the perfect timing, and it’s up to you to listen. When you do, you’re giving your body the green light to be its healthiest.

And how do you listen to your body? Fasting!

So, let’s make today the day you start respecting your body’s signals, practice mindful eating, and embrace fasting as a way to boost your gut health.

Your gut will thank you!
